People are required to give feedback to others (such as giving feedback on assignments that their classmate did or contribution that their co-worker made). When you have both positive feedback and negative feedback, it is more effective that you give positive feedback prior to negative feedback.
Do you agree or disagree with the statement?
Giving positive feedback first is better than giving negative feedback first. This is because it helps to improve creativity and reduce stress about work.
Giving positive feedback before negative feedback shows outstanding effectiveness in improving creativity. Modern society admittedly requires people who surpass others both specialty and creativity. To be more specific, keeping how to think creatively is a necessary qualification for any successful person. Therefore, given the need for originality and new ideas in any workplace today, giving positive feedback first clearly more vital in a building promising future because it provides people with the perfect opportunities to find positive sides about their work, develop the strong points of their work, and complete projects with novel ideas.
My brother’s experience can be an appropriate example to show the effectiveness of giving positive feedback before providing negative feedback for improving creativity. My oldest brother, Johnson, had great ideas on household electrical appliances when he was working for Samsung, but he did not realize any of the ideas because his boss always gave negative reviews first. It made him frustrated and stop developing further his ideas. However, after he moved to LG, he could work with the new boss who provided good feedback first and tried to find feasibilities of employees’ idea, so he was able to have the courage to keep working on his ideas. Since then, he has completed many of the projects using his ideas such as robot room cleaner, 3D-printer, and so on. Without saying a good review of the new boss first, his ideas would not be embodied.
People should give optimistic feedback earlier than a negative response since they can find emotional support and satisfaction by thinking their effort is worthwhile. providing good feedback first is also effective for boosting their moods than the opposite as it makes a good atmosphere. Today, many people are weary with too much stress. By obtaining optimistic feedback first, however, they can relieve their stress from work or study and gain some breathing space. In this respect, providing positive feedback first can be a great means of invigorating people’s minds. My personal experience can be illustrated to prove this point. Every morning, I have to get through traffic congestion going to work and reading countless texts. To make matters worse, I get exhausted coping with my customers. Nevertheless, I can let go of my stress because my boss always tried to find optimistic facets of my work. Even though he tells me about the shortcomings of my project after positive feedback, it does not hurt my feeling because I can find some improvement in my work.
To sum up, providing a good review is a better option than giving negative feedback since it encourages people to be creative work by focusing on strong points of their work. Also, it helps people given feedback to reduce stress a lot by giving emotional support.
